Pandemic or not, love is in the air, and weddings are still very much at large! However, there are specific trends for 2021 that are quite different from what’s been done before! Check out what we have found out below.
Forget having a wedding and reception on the same day; that kind of thing went out last year with the pandemic! Couples are now embracing the celebrations and postponing their reception party until much later on. Some even have gotten married last year and now plan their massive party for this year. According to Brides, some couples are even planning to do it all over again this year by having their vows blessed and then celebrating after.
Fun with funds
Due to the necessity of having smaller weddings, couples are finding that there’s no need to splurge out on the ordinary expensive items in a traditional wedding. This way, they can actually spend money on things that matter to them. Things like more expensive food, drinks, entertainment, and more immersive experiences for couples and guests are trendy this year. Take a look at this beautiful, immersive ambiance (#11) for some gorgeous inspiration!
Intimate and micro weddings
Then there is the trend for the more intimate ceremony; couples are only inviting those closest to them to witness the nuptials. Trust us when we say there are many benefits to having a smaller, more intimate wedding, have a read of our recent article that explains everything.
Who says you must be in an enclosed area to get married? Engaged couples are embracing nature and the great outdoors; what better way to do that than get married alfresco? Open space, out in the fresh air on a beautiful warm day. Sounds perfect to us! Check out this breath-taking shoot over at Munaluchi Bridal for inspiration!
Staycation for honeymoon
With travel still uncertain and an unwelcome prospect in some areas, couples are opting for staycations rather than honeymooning abroad. This will mean more local getaway, possibly mini-vacations, and long weekends in popular locations just a train or car ride away.
Ready to wear dresses
The pandemic was hard on the wedding industry last year. Thus, many suppliers had to either adapt their services and products or simply go out of business altogether. Bespoke wedding dress designers and creators were hit especially by this, so some started offering wedding gowns that were ready-made and ready to go. Obviously, this is an excellent choice for brides at the moment who can still buy their dream dress off the rack and a fraction of the price!
When you’re having a small intimate wedding, there’s no need to be quite so wary of dates and times that are convenient for a multitude of guests. You only want a small group of people there so this means you can have a wedding pretty much whenever you want.
Weekend long weddings
Who says you have to hold your entire celebration on one day? Many couples are now opting to spread out their celebrations over a few days to get maximum enjoyment and experience. It’s your wedding, your way, so why not?
Wedding on stream
Just because you’re having a smaller wedding doesn’t mean more people can’t watch you get married. We have had to adapt to the way we do weddings, and having the benefit of technology has helped in terms of live streaming ceremonies. This has allowed couples to have more people witness their special day while being safe at home. “Having your wedding day captured as a film is becoming more popular and a great way to relive your day and being able to send live footage will be championed by many across the next few years” Wed Inspire.
You don’t need two or three outfits for your wedding day! Just have one dress that is adaptable with removable parts! No one will ever know it’s the same dress! Not sure what we mean? Take a look at #3 in this article!
